Our Impact

We deliver advisory services and community-based partnerships (CBPs) that build and improve urban infrastructure, create quality local jobs, and transfer implementation risk away from local government.

Nature conservation and climate action are essential for long-term sustainability, and our work directly contributes to Net-Zero and Net-Positive goals of cities, that are crucial to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Building a Contractor and Supplier Ecosystem via Mentor-Protégé Programs

CIS proudly upholds a strong commitment to local and small businesses.

CIS strongly believes that a majority of revenues from large-scale infrastructure projects must stay in communities that pay for them, and they should result in local economic growth and workforce training/opportunities. Accordingly, we place a strong emphasis on empowering local small businesses and supporting their growth, particularly Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprises (M/WBE) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE).

Our efforts include offering meaningful partnerships, providing a platform for underrepresented firms, and ensuring they have access to the tools and resources needed to succeed.

Over the past decade, CIS has mentored over sixty small and minority-owned businesses, helping them grow through regional business conferences, fairs, and outreach events hosted by CIS. Once they join our network, we provide essential services like bid preparation support and back-office assistance to strengthen their operations. Unlike the typical approach, when desired by our customers, CIS develops local bid packages tailored to small businesses, increasing their participation in projects. Additionally, CIS supports workforce development by connecting local training programs with project opportunities, creating a pipeline for meaningful work experience and implementing an apprenticeship program on a project basis.

Giving Back

We are dedicated to making a meaningful impact in our communities, both collectively and as individuals.

Over the past decade, our employees have actively engaged in various charitable service projects. We volunteer our time and professional expertise, raise funds for deserving causes, and contribute essential items, such as food, holiday gifts for underprivileged families, and school supplies for disadvantaged children. Most of these initiatives are grassroots efforts organized at a local level.

Additionally, CIS provides its employees with ‘Give Back Hours,’ an annual benefit that grants them 8 hours of paid time to participate in volunteer events, such as blood donation or park clean-ups. Moreover, CIS offers employees the option to donate to charitable organizations in place of receiving service awards and holiday gifts.

Finally, we sponsor a whole host of environmental and social nonprofits across the nation.

Community Focus and Partnerships

We value and celebrate our unique differences.

We believe in the power of collaboration and the benefits that come from engaging with a wide range of partners. Our goal is to foster an environment where shared insights, experiences, and expertise drive mutual growth and innovation. By emphasizing collective contributions and aligning efforts towards common goals, we create opportunities for success across all stakeholders.

We are committed to meeting the evolving needs of our community by building strong, lasting partnerships. Our approach centers on leveraging diverse perspectives to address challenges and create solutions that benefit everyone involved. Through this, we aim to make a meaningful impact and drive positive change within our business and the broader community.
