Technical Assistance
CIF’s Mid-Atlantic Climate-Smart Commodities Project will deliver on the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Partnership for Climate-Smart Commodities grant. The project will install best management practices (BMPs) on private agricultural producers’ property to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and provide secondary environmental benefits like improved water quality and increased soil health across the Mid-Atlantic region.
CIS will provide programmatic insights to ensure CIF and their sub-contractors are aligned on the contractual outcomes, compliance, and risk management. CIS’s experience in program development, program management, and compliance will enhance the overall effectiveness and success of the Climate-Smart Commodities Program allowing it to maximize BMP spend and increase scalability.
Anticipated Results
The project will reimburse property owners for installation costs based on BMP performance outcomes, which will allow CIF to market carbon offsets with the goal of revolving funds for additional BMP installation. The project further seeks to develop scalability of the project model by increasing the return on investment to generate additional BMP utilization and carbon offset sale opportunities.
